-- sorry - wrong subject! --

Hi Guys,

short story:
Read a lot about 3D printing, have some degree of experience with electronics, Arduino and physics, and thought I'd take a shot at it.

I compared and compared again, and bought a DIY kit from reprapworld.com. Along with a Megatronics V2.0 all-in-one board.

I spent about 3 days at building the raw frame, following the very good instructional videos on the wiki.

This worked out allright, until I got to hooking up the electronics.

The board is quite young, so I'm not finding a lot of documentation, this is what I got:

video

http://reprapworld.com/mt/datasheet%20megatronicsv2.pdf

http://reprap.org/wiki/Megatronics_2.0

firmware

BUT nowhere I can find information about the polarity of the pins on the board, so I'm afraid to fry board or drivers by hooking them up the wrong way.

The guys from reprapworld were kind to swiftly reply to my questions, but I think it is in the interest of everyone that I ask it this way.

Thanks for the advice!

Dirk

What do you mean about burning drivers ?

On this link [reprap.org] the stepsticks are depicted with the trimmer on the right, therefore I assume that this is the right position.

Recap: facing the board with USB toward you/bottom, the stepsticks should be mounted with trimmer facing right side.

There is the PCB drawing available, depicting the motor output traces on the top of each stepstick (stepper driver module) socket (http://reprap.org/wiki/File:Megatronicsv2PDF.zip)

For added safety, just mount one stepstick/motor and try it !

Bye
Davide

did mine like that (above) works a treat
the only thing i found is that the driver lay out is a bit odd you would think the top three drives would be x,y and z but they not its z x E0
then Y E1 and E2

I've got DRV8825 drivers from Pololu and looking at the wiring diagram for these I assume that the trimmer would be on the left but there is not enough info in the megatronics v2 wiki or datasheet for me to be 100% sure. Has anyone else used DRV8825 with this board yet?

I meant burning out my stepper drivers (pololu MD09B actually)
But, I found out by closely looking at the specsheet. it mentions the pinout (but it's not on the silkscreen.)

I took a gamble, connected it, and thankyoujezus no blue smoke smiling smiley

I'm currently tying to figure out what the correct settings are in slicer and pronterface, but I'll get there :-)

thanks!
