The 3D Printer Mentioned in the Big Bang Theory
March 06, 2013 10:06PM
Hi, guys! I'm new here. Wow, actually Wow, I didnot know anything about 3D printers until I watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory which talks about 3D printers. I am so surprised at the technology and interested in this area. Well, I think I'm a little bit behind the times.

It seems that the printer mentioned in the TBBT is InVision XT 3D Printer produced by Inition Company. But some people argue that it looks like the Kinect 3D printer produced by Microsoft. I will check this out because I'm going to buy one soon.

Has anyone watched this episode? Let's talk about this. I'm so excited.

Besides, I'm also paying attention to the 3D printer materials. I notice that SainSmart also sells such materials. I once bought a Mini PC there and didn't know that they also sell such kind of things. Is that the authentic 3D printer materials? Can anyone have a look at this and explain it? Here is the link(Just press "here").

Where else can I buy 3D printer materials or good 3D printers? Is SainSmart selling good 3D printer materials? I'm very curious about the way it works.

Anyone that argues it looks like "the Kinect 3D printer produced by Microsoft" is an IDIOT! eye rolling smiley
The Kinect is a 3D scanner produced by Microsoft!
Asus makes a simular but smaller device the Asus Xtion Pro Live.

AFAIAC this is BLATANT ADVERTISING SPAM for SainSmart!

If you want to advertise your filament then please post in the For Sale forum.

1) i'm a big fan of "the big bang theory"
2) that whole episode was stupid based on the fact that it's 2013 and they still didn't have a 3D printer at the university,
guys like that should even have a "darwin" in there house.
they should also argue why they hate the new replicator2 because it's no longer open source. thats the humour i like in big bang. (remember the explanation why vista sucks?)
3) 43$ for 1KG fillament? are you insane? i pay like half that price. i usually pay 10€/500gr

I was a little upset that the 3Dprinter in Big Bang was some commercial unit with it's brand name hidden, rather than a desktop home unit- something that would have given Reprap some more credit and make it known that 3D-printing is no longer limited to big machines and big money.

I agree...

...but then Bernadette couldn't blow up because he spent $5,000.00 on a used 3d printer!
That is $2,500.00 for a stupid doll!!

Tack on shipping charge and that's not much cheaper than the existing cheap options. Anyways hows the quality with these guys? May be worth a shot if their shipping to US is cheaper than I pay from China.

For you guys in the EU however that may be one of the cheapest options.

i have not tested it, but if it's from the guy i used buy from on ebay (i think it is, and he now has a shop)
than it's very good quality. filament is more like 2.8, but you pay by the weight so it doesn't mater.

i just ordered there because they had the yellow/gold color i needed.
i'm of for a few days holiday now, but i'll let you know when i tested it.
