I looked at the drawing in Autocad a bit ago and the current .dxf shows a 3 mm diameter. My waterjet contractor reminded me that I told him I needed to tap 3 mm threads and he tightened the tolerance based on our conversation. I'll go back and make the holes in the .dxf 2.5mm. There were a few stray construction lines as well and we separated the plate and bed so his nesting software could be more efficient. I'll put the new drawings in my repo and submit the changes to Jo's repo.

Hi Chris33,

Please take into account the tolerance of your contractor's machine (maybe 0.2mm? then hole could go to 2.9mm) when deciding the hole size. We were advised against doing the holes this size laser cut, and they were just marked. But doing so, we also saved some money as the job became cheaper. Maybe a pilot hole around 2mm, if possible, may allow you to do the final drilling at home to the right size easily.

i had mine water jetted (before i found out the dxf i had the holes was 3.25mm as i stated) didn't want to risk getting burrs on the cut. the water jet tolarences are +/-0.2mm so my next frame the holes are going to do 2mm, but in all saying that mine is m4 and i dont have a problem i changed the rp parts to take m4

My waterjet guy says they can do between .003" and .005" tolerance on the holes which is about .07 mm to .1 mm. As missan says it's dependent on the machine and set up your contractor uses. If you didn't use an abrasive water jet I'm told you could get up to .025 mm tolerance though I didn't get a quote for something that exact.

The original Prusa i3 BOM that lives at [ethercalc.org] has been edited into oblivion, but I made a copy and have been modifying it here: Thinkyhead's Curated Prusa i3 BOM.

Hi all

I am busy part hunting for a Pursa i3 with a single aluminium frame. From all my reading it seems getting the wrong part files is quite an issue. Does any one have advice on which variant is best to build and where I can find the stl files therefor. I have access to a printer so will print my own RP parts. Even more of a problem for me is finding the file which I can use to cut the frame with a laser cutter. I have come across several but they are older versions or have been heavily modified. Any help would be appreciated as the excitement of building one is giving me sleepless nights.
