Updating Melzi firmwre

Hi all,

I have a MELZI board with a ATMEGA644P on a Huxley machine.
M115 returns FIRMWARE_NAME:rrp UUID:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
rrp is probably RepRapPro, but this is not much indication, so that I don't know which firmware I'm running right now.

My main problem with it is that I can't persist the extrusion rate which I then have to reset at each startup. M500 doesn't seem to do anything.

Reading from reprap.org, I've been directed to [github.com] which seems to be the main firmware for the Sanguinolu based board (which the Melzi is).
The README states that I should set values that mach my hardware for axis_steps_per_unit... and there I'm lost, I really don't dare to flash the firmware without knowing what value to put here.

Help welcome, direction for the flashing as well.
Are there actually other firmware available for my board?

Well, this is useful in fact. I've been following links right from the wiring phase:

from
[reprap.org]
to
[reprap.org]
to
[reprap.org]

and then I deduced Sprinter firmware was the more appropriate.

Than I got stuck in the README of the Sprinter firmware install.

This is much more understandable to me and makes more sense.

I'm wondering though if I can upgrade the CPU clock to 20 MHz with an ATMEGA644P?

Thanks for pointing me in the right, even though very obvious, direction ... winking smiley
