Nema 17 wires dont match...

Im having issues with wiring my Nema 17s, I have the ramps 1.4. The issues is im just guessing at the connections and im worried im gonna blow somthing...

Im told the moter is

PIN1= B- Orange
PIN2= B COMMON NO WIRE
PIN3= B Blue
PIN4= A Red
PIN5= A COMMON NO Wire
PIN6= A- Yellow

My ramps says

2B
2A
1A
1B

Please any help on getting the right connection would be great here.

looks like you'll have to get the multimeter out and check for continuity between pairs of wire , there isn't much as far as a datasheet for them

Six wire steppers are compatible with four wire drivers. Bipolar (four wire) drivers function in two phases. One wire is connected to another wire, and the other two are connected to the other phase (coil). If you have a multimeter, measure the resistance between two wires. If the resistance is infinite, that means the two wires are not connected inside the motor.

Don't be confused with the whole color coding thing. Just connect the wires in the same order as they are in the motor to the ramps board.

So, 6 wires mean hybrid or unipolar. If it is hybrid, it will work in a 4 wire mode, but possible loose some strength (i'm not sure) I am sure you can be able to get away with pings 2-5 only, but at half or weaker strength.

Using it in 4 wire mode actually offers far superior performance because all the coils are activated fully rather than half of the coil. I believe the 6 wire set up is available because the control circuitry is simpler - the motor can be controlled without reversing the current.

Okay well hooking it up correctly It becomes kinda hard to turn but when you tell it to go a direction nothing happens... How ever if you hook both A+ and B+ to a single coil if becomes nearly impossible to turn and when you tell it to turn a direction it jumps around randomly.... How can I rule out a Ramps board hardware or software issue... I think the stepper is fine, how ever If not im okay buying new steppers i just want to make sure its not a ramps issue... What voltage should I be getting out of the ramps??

Also not wiring the stops would not cause this issue would it?

For fucks sakes..... Really Just wiring them up like they are already worked... WTF I spent the last 7 hours matching wires and I never found that pattern!! thanks man... Now I just need to figure out why I can only go + not - but that should be easy

Anyone else who is having issues getting reprap to move the other way check your end stops

Hey all,
I am trying to figure this out right now. First build, Prusa i3.

My NEMA 17s have 6 wires (all the same color except commons). By manufacturer diagram, I see that..
Pin 1 is B-
Pin 3 is B
Pin 4 is A
Pin 6 is A-

How do these correspond to the RAMPS board pins, which show left-to-right order of 2B 2A 1A 1B?

Possibility 1) For instance, does 2B correspond to B-?

Possibility 2) Or do I just go in order as rajien2 suggests (pin 1 with 2B, pin 3 with 2A, etc.)?

@rajien2 If you see this and my guess is correct, what you did was 'option 2,' right???

hello, my motor had the same a/b set-up

Pin 1 is B- A1
Pin 3 is B B1
Pin 4 is A A2
Pin 6 is A- B2

it worked for me.

looking from the first wire it went like this

First and third for A1 and A2
second and fourth B1 and B2
