Anybody spotted this on thingiverse?

Anybody tried it yet? Looks very interesting and could be useful no?

it does seem useful. I would like material that can make model car/rc tires.

Cool. This is why I want a multiple head extruder (more than 2). It is more for the materials than the colors.

If we could only get a nice looking transparent material... grinning smiley

The only source I could find for 3mm in the US was Grainger.
'McMaster has it in 4mm and 3/32's

I bought some from here [uk.rs-online.com] but if you want large ammounts it looks like its source is here [www.fennerdrives.com]

I'll be trying it next week and will post back what I find. I cant seem to find any info on the safety side if things though. Am I going to create nasty fumes etc. Can any chemists out there help out there?

I'am not a chemist, but 3 points to keep in mind :

- Polyurethane is a vast family where some are thermoplastic hence usable for reprap, other are thermosetting and even if they can be melt (some may not) they would lose their caracteristics.
- They may contain nasty stuff either as base component (some isocyanates) or additives.
- If they degrade (over 250°C ?) , they can release lot of CO.

WOW!! It works a treat!! I just did a test print with some that I bought from RS components and it came out just as good as my PLA prints.

I printed it on my Mendel90 straight onto the glass (cleaned with vinegar first)

Slic3r
0.3mm layer height
220degC hotend throughout
90degC bed temp throughout
Fan on after 20 layers (same as I was last printing - I doubt this is important)
All other settings the same as I print ABS and PLA

Printed much much nicer than the octopus the guy printed in polyurethane in thingiverse.

Came off the bed very easily once cooled.

Hardly any smell while printing, I watched the entire print and I'm still alive so no deadly fumes!!

I'm well impressed to say the least!!!

I'll try to get some pictures or video up soon.

Is this what RS sell as polyurethane belting?

I have been looking for info on using PU for ages, as this material can be RF welded to other parts.

Since its flexible, I guess it could cause problems with extruder as well?

This place seems to have a wide range of diameters:
