Do I need ventilation?
January 16, 2009 10:32PM
I am going to be building a RepRap soon. I was thinking about just building it in my room, but it does not have very good ventilation. Is this ok, or will fumes be produced that are dangerous to breath? Also, are the plastics safe for eating off of?

I don't yet have an extruder.

But checkout the roast in bag post.

The roaster bag seems to contain the plastics outgassing quite nicely according to adrian

If you are thinking about building some simple ventilation, I would suggest a hose from a dryer and a fan (normal pc fan will do), and just put the hose outside your window... Voila, you just made yourself a fume extractor...

You can eat from plastic, but make sure you aint eating plastic (you wont die instantly, but its not really healthy...) If you want to eat from it, I would suggest plastic plates winking smiley
