Trying to get a feel for how much material I will need as I have a few friends who are looking to build as well...

HarshReality,

How much material you need is entirely dependent on how much infill you decide to use and what layer height you decide to print at. It is very variable.

It depends on the extruder too.

For example a Greg's extruder would need double the plastic than Kliment's compact extruder.

A geared-motor mini-extruder will need even less plastic.

Hi misan.

"Kliment's compact extruder"? I've never heard of it. Sounds sexi. Can you please share a link?

Thanks.

I have done some tests with slic3r, 30% infill, and I get around 180 grs of ABS without the extruder and 210 grs with the compact extruder (I guess 240 grs with a Greg's Wade extruder).

So that means you'll need around 1Kg of plastic every four (or five) sets.
