Pronterface (printrun)

I am running Pronterface which is showing as having Slic3r of version 7.1 (or thereabouts). How do I go about geting the lastest version of Slic3r (9.9 I believe) into Pronterface (Printrun)? I am not very computer literate so a step by step would be of great value to me.

What platform?

Here is how it works on OSX. The slicer is a stand alone program that is run from within Pronterface. You set the path to the program in the Settings menu, Options pull down and enter the info in the resulting dialog box in the slicersettings field. If you are upgrading the slicer simply replace the older version of the slicer with the newer version.

..and if you're using Windoze, right click on the new Slic3r folder and select "copy". Then navigate to "Printrun", "dist", and paste to overwrite the old Slic3r folder

Waitaki--thank you for the response. But, I did as you suggested and I get an error that slic3r is non existent. Checked the file and the folder is inside the 'dist' folder. Will get this figured out.

Yeah, sorry, it doesn't work as you wanted it doing it that way, (In fact, I can't remember how it does work when you want to upgrade a program). Anyway, I changed the way things work because I found it better to use Slic3r as a standalone program rather than rely on it being called from within Pronterface.

Do what I do if you want to try it..

Make a shortcut to slic3r.exe on the desktop. Then, when you need to slice something, fire up the Slic3r program, load an STL file, make your print settings etc then export the gcode to your preferred folder. Then, when your ready to print, start up Pronterface then load the gcode straight in.
