Yes I thought the same - rather odd of a 'peace' prize! Unless of course Will Smith/Tom Cruise/Bruce Willis are going to save the rest of the world again, this time with a 3D printer...

There was that movie where Bruce Willis saved the universe with the aid of *someone* that was 3D printed...

Great contest idea! The US is the proper place for this contest, in my opinion.

Agree it's a great contest idea, but in the context of peace, why on Earth would that be about just one country?

One country == nobody to fight == peace (well, maybe except civil war). I could imagine first fully printed ICBM as winning entrysmiling smiley

The limitation is probably due to some stipulation of the grant money used to fund the contest.

But I think it's a great idea - something we need to see more of!

It's thinking backwards to do this only in one country.
The replies like "The US is the proper place for this contest" and "One country == nobody to fight == peace" are also a bit backward.

This whole reprap idea is about no borders, no differences...

I'm sorry, great initiative, but the only in US is WRONG.
