Hi All,
I recently purchased a Printrbot Jr. and was getting ready to print out some new extruder gears to replace wooden one but got to think a bit (a problem of mine). Printrbot recently switched to a 1.75mm hot end and some folks have had problems with it because the extruder was designed for 3.0mm filament. It is a fairly easy fix (a 1" piece of bowden tube takes care of it) but I've noticed that the extruder turns much faster than my 3mm filament printer, as it should, and the stepper gets pretty hot.
Would it be a good idea to change the gearing on the extruder closer to a 1 to 1 ratio like on direct drive models?
Cheers,
KDog
