Hi. New guy here. I have been designing for and using stereo lithography and 3D printed parts for years as part of my designs for low volume mfg. Now I want to get my own printer.
I think I need to buy one rather then build from scratch because there is so much I don't know. I am attracted to a RrpRap based printer because I suspect I will want to modify it once I get my feet wet.
I started out by taking some parts I am having made now on a 50K printer to a outfit that sells the Afinia h479. I was amazed and impressed with it, it would do the job, but I can't make it better. (Nether the hardware nor the software are open source.)
I am leaning towards a extruded aluminum machine but I am wide open to being educated.
Here is a example of some products using the stuff I now have printed.
