Fixing RAMPS? Thermistor issue.
July 26, 2013 01:22PM
One of my machines started registering room temp on the hot end as 94c.
Previously aprox. 28c same as heated bed.

Seemed to work anyway, for a while.

Had to clear a jam in the J-head and decided to check the thermistor at the same time.

Pulled it off the RAMPS and the temp dropped to 92c!!!?

So, I'm thinking the fault is in the RAMPS board rather then the thermistor.

Is there a way to fix this or should I just get a new RAMPS?

Got a new RAMPS board and swapped it.

Thermister not plugged in still reads 90c and now 92c pluged in.

I'm guessing the RAMPS just passes the connections to the Arduino and it's something there causing the higher reading.

sad smiley

So, I'm guessing I need an new Arduino Mega and have an extra PAMPS.

yeah ive actually blown two megas, im pretty sure you can just reassign the thermistor pin to the third slot but i never figured it out. i wish i would have seen this sooner, could have saved you a buck or two. well now you can build a second 3d printer, perhaps a portable one.
