Hello, I am new to this site. Does anyone know if RepRap has a controller that will run 5-6 steppers motors and inputs for absolute encoders for each of the steppers? Ken

the megatronics can run 6, y could input the encoders into the auxiliary pins.

Hello,
I'am looking for a controller that can control from 5 -6 steppers motors each having an absolute encoder input . Can you help me out? If you don't have a solution and may know of a manufacture please let me know? Regards Ken

there are no standard electronics from reprap that do this currently.

Why absolute encoders? simple A B Z incremental seem to be the norm with all the CNC machines I've ever dealt with.

In case of a jam, power loss.

I've seen stepper motors with it built in, but I don't know if RAMPS will be able to work with it.

I saw on instructables, someone had made a regular hobby servo into a 10 bit continuous rotation servo with a little magnet cylinder and a chip. this could easily be done to a stepper, however the chip is about 10 bucks and the resolution would only work for about 4x microstepping.
