Weird Bumps On Prints

Hello fellow reprappers, recently when I made a change to 20 tooth pulleys from 36 tooth pulleys I've been noticing these weird bumps forming on my prints. Would anyone have any insight as to what they might be caused by?

I am running 3mm PLA through a J-head, and my FW is Marlin.

Attached are some pictures to better describe what I'm experiencing.

your carrieage is getting stuck on something. oil your x/y with 3-1 oil or greese, and make sure wires are clear of obstruction. i had a similar issue and it was a fan wire rubbing against the x carriage.

So I check the mechanicals as you suggested, no change. But for some strange reason I went into marlin to see what I had set my acceleration limits to, and it turns out it was set to 500. I turned it up to 4000, and now it's great! So now what I figure that it was hitting the acceleration limits and causing that weirdness, there might be a better explanation for this though. But my rods were indeed in needd of cleaning.
