Good glow in the dark PLA filament?
August 13, 2013 06:40PM
Hi,

I am currently in the process of purchasing filament for my newly-assembled Mendel90 and thought that glow in the dark filament would be neat.

I am considering buying from seller "3d Printer Supplies" at Amazon, but first wanted to hear your thoughts. Do you know of any supplier preferably in the EU for good PLA filament that glows in the dark?

Thanks in advance!

The best PLA I tried is fabberdashery's. They have glow in the dark. They're in the UK.

It's a little overpriced IMO then.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

reprapworld.com is based in the Netherlands. they supply glow in the dark. I haven't tested it yet but I have ordered other filaments from them with no problems. they have decent prices. fabberdashery probably have better quality but their prices are quite high. let us know how it goes for you. would love to see pictures.

good luck

Thanks for all the replies and help, I appreciate it.

At this moment I prioritize quality instead of low price and I am therefore leaning towards the Glowbug filament from Faberdashery. My main concern is that the filament really should have a good clear glow in the dark, hopefully the filament from Faberdashery will live up to my expectations.

Here is a picture of a part made with fabberdashery GITD filament. I think it has a good glow, but can't compare.

Keep in my mind that my digital camera is not really designed to take pictures in the dark - I had the flash disabled for that picture.

I ended up with purchasing the glowbug yellow filament from Faberdashery. It is glowing fine in the dark, see the attached image for a glow in the dark crystal I printed with it.

I have glow in the dark, don't remember where I bought it but I believe it was MatterHackers and it is extremely brittle. Is this the same case for the Faberdashery?
