How hot does the underside of the reprap heatbed get?

How hot does the underside of the reprap heatbed get?

Hey guys,

I'm designing a 3d printer and will be using the reprap heatbed mk3. I was just wondering if the underside gets as hot as the top of the heatbed?

It definitely gets as hot, actually it gets hotter because the underside is the side that has the traces which generate the heat. Also be careful of what you mount the heated bed on, we tried an aluminum plate for our first mount which quickly became a giant heat sink eye rolling smiley

also be sure anything you put on the bottom side is not bolted, and is loose, like fiberglass insulation would work ok. you don't want the bed to crack from thermal expansion from whatever you use on the bottom of the heated bed to protect below it.
