Purple Prusa i3 Build

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share some pics of a new Prusa i3 Single-plate build that I've recently completed. For some bling, it's finished in anodized purple aluminium, yellow ABS parts and marine-grade stainless. It uses 10mm threaded rods and 10mm smooth rods for the Y-axis, 8mm for X and Z. Prints like a dream... not completely happy with the standard Prusa parts, I've also modded some of the parts to perform better... especially the Z end-stop.

That is a beautiful printer. Some excellent photography too.

Good looking printer. I like the Z endstop mounts. I'm not pleased with any of the i3 endstop mounts I've tried so far. Are your source files available?

I was lazy and did the Z-stop in 123D... I know, I know I should have used Open-SCAD. The height of mine is custom for the SC10UU platform.

Thanks. No worries as I was going to fork the design to better fit the non Prusa repo X ends that I use. OpenSCAD is a good parametric modeler for programmer types but I think in the long run something with a more traditional graphic interface will become standard. At least for the non programmer types. And it's probably going to be something like 123D or a future version of Sketchup.

Very nice build!

Did you have to modify the plate to fit the larger smooth rods?

Great looking machine. Yes... I have the usual questions about parts, plans, etc., if they're available anywhere.

Thanks a million,

open-scad? Ain't nobody got time for that.

Seriously though that is a nice looking printer. I am sure some people would be interested having access to the parts you made.
