No restart after retraction

Hey printer commanders,

I have gotten good results with my printer over the last days, but I´m not getting the retraction setting for my bowden extruder under control. I´m using sprinter, pronterface and Slic3er 0.91b.

When I print a calibration test I can feel the filament pulled out (4mm @ 60mm/s) but I can´t feel the restart move. It just continues printing at normal speed. I´ve even gone so far and put in 12mm of extra length on restart which worked partially, but I feel that this is way to much. Even with a bowden extruder the restart/pushback shouldn´t be more the 1-3mm right?

I tested the whole filament flow there are no obstructions and the geared stepper motor is capable of this speed, its just not commanding the restart move itself. Any ideas?

Read your gcode file, looking at the E0 instructions.

It is easy to see the filament values adding up during the print, then retract at things like layer changes.
you can at least remove that as a variable.

verify the stepper is moving for the actual prime instruction.
You mention the suck is happening. (Kisslicer terms)
