Parallelogram deform - how to calibrate?
November 04, 2013 01:26PM
Hi hey hello,

I´m getting into the finer details of my calibration now and I´m noticing a parallelogram deform of my objects. Whenever I print a square the width is accurate within 1mm over 10cm which is fine for now but I still have a visible deform of at least 2deg.

I have no idea how to go about it because I imagine that if there are too much or too little steps on one of the axis this would result in a trapezoidal deform, right?

Is your setup square?

Clamp a pen to your carriage.

Generate your own G-Code to draw a square.

I have a custom machine, but I had a similar problem.

make sure your y axis is 90 to your x axis. x axis may not be perfectly straight.

also y axis may not be perfectly straight.

try printing out a a circle, you can see the direction of the deformation quite easily.

I had i similar problem when I built mine. Make sure there is no slop in either of your xy timing belts.
