3d printing for everyone
November 13, 2013 10:14PM
Recently I built my own 3d printer, it started as an idea. While I was at work I was thinking of ideas to make money, business ideas. I did this a lot, especially while I was at work as this was the time I wished most that I had enough money to not have to work. It was then I found a video about 3d printers. I soon decided I'd build my own and after I'd got the funds together I purchased a reprappro Mendel. I've only recently got it printing well, it's taken a lot of work but has been immensely satisfying. During the calibration stage of my build my friend showed me a film that entirely changed my outlook on society and the way our lives are shaped for us. The film was Zeitgeist, I found out shortly after watching that it's actually part of a trilogy. I strongly encourage everyone reading this to watch all 3 of them, when my friend was telling me about the film, before he'd had the chance to show me it, he said that when he watched it it changed his life, I didn't believe him, but after I watched it myself I understood what he meant, and I understood why I didn't understand before. The overall conclusion of the trilogy is that we need to live in a resource based economy where everyone works for the good of society and technology is harnessed to it's greatest potential for the progression and sustenance of the society. I won't get right into it I'll let you decide if you want to watch the film to learn about it. I agree so strongly with the society proposed in the film that I'm going to offer my 3d printing services for no cash. All that is required is for you to offer a service or product, upto a reasonable quantity in comparison to the quantity received by you. For example if you were interested in my 3d printing services and you yourself were a graphic designer, we could enter into an agreement that, you would receive requested 3d models from me, upto for example 1 a week maximum, to avoid one party taking advantage of the other, and you in return would provide me with 1 design maximum per week, I probably wouldn't need one every week, just as they wouldnt need a 3d printed model every week, but they would be available there for when we needed them. If everyone does this, we can move closer to a time when everyone works for everyone. I'm going to start making the website tomorrow as I'm now off work for 6 days, if any website designers want to offer any help at all in return for free 3d printed products I'd very much like to hear from you. I've reread this twice now and it all makes sense to me but if you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask, I hope you watch the films and you agree with the ideas presented, there's an interview with Adrian Bowyer at the end of the third film. Thanks for reading all this and I look forward to your questions.
