Recommendations for 3D objects to print as examples?

Hi,

I"d like to print some objects to show as examples of 3D printing.

Can anyone give me any recommendations.

Note. I only have a single extruder, and I can only print in PLA or ABS.
(I have a MendelMax).

I guess I could print a large object e.g. 20 x 20 x 15 ish, but on the whole it would be better if things didn't take ages to print.

Printing things, where the print need to be paused for something to be inserted into the middle of the object would be OK.

Thanks.

Roger

Hello, have you seen Thingiverse.com?

I recently printed off these planetary gears [www.thingiverse.com] , they are quite simple to do because they don't have any overhangs and are easy shapes! Surprising how addictive they are to keep twiddling round and round....

mine were a bit on the stiff side, so i just loosened them up with a quick spin from a battery screwdriver.

I think things that move have more 'wow' factor than solid objects smileys with beer

I concur. I have one of these on my desk at work, and people come by and fiddle with it all the time.

Thanks guys.

I've already printed the gear bearing a few times, but I get a lot of problems with the cogs sticking together at the base.
Perhaps I need to have more gap between the extruder and the glass plate when I level the bed, to avoid this issue.
I have managed to print one that was OK, but I gave it away already, so need to print it again,

The nautilus gear looks great, and as its in multiple parts it looks like it won't have the sticking issue

Thanks

Roger
