I am also using the aluminum angle/skate bearings idea. Making one that looks a lot like http://buildyourcnc.com/davidkcnc.aspx

I too am writing my own arduino firmware. Why? No good reason. I like the challenge and like writing code. Gives me a puzzle to play with.

Thanks for the great reference. That site has several CNC machines that use that same method for track. Should definitely help when it comes to getting everything setup.

Nice. Wish I had seen that before making what I have. His seems to have a better supported build platform than mine....maybe the next iteration!
