Round shape is not exactly round..

Hi everybody,
I am not sure if it's my settings or the printer, but since a while, my cylinders and round shapes don't print really smooth.. at all.

Anybody familiar with this problem?

That's XY ripple, try a print at 10 or 20mm/s. What speeds are you running at?

You should check your belt tensions and make sure they are quite tight (like a badly tuned guitar). Loose belts will do that. If your belts don't make a sound when you pluck them, they are too loose.

Also, use a drop of oil regularly on each axis to make sure they run smooth.

Also, make sure all your bolts / nuts are tightened, especially the extruder.

this is caused by non smooth motion where extrusion is slightly misplaced.

zip tie those bushings in place. there is too much leverage against them to even be held in place by the kapton tape. also switching eventually to a 4 bushing x carriage instead of the 3 will help as well. in the mean time look at your jerk settings, i can't remember if they should be higher or lower, but you definitely want to play around with jerk settings, and then reduce speed.

reroute the wire if possible the wire may be impeding motion and causing non smooth motion.

also check belt tension.

Strange, I already tried some of these ideas, but maybe it's a combination solutions

I changed the following things:
- Tighten the belts
- Zip-tie the bushing
- Lower the speed
- WD-40 on each axis

I will get a 4th bushing when I get the chance.

I guess this will help, the printer doesn't make as much noise as before for sure. I will see next time I print something round.

Thanks a lot!

Don't forget to play with your firmware "jerk" settings as recomended by jamesdanielv.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

In the part you upload on the arduino, Configuration.h

You are probably using Marlin.

Don't use WD-40. It's a de-greaser and cleaner as well as lubricator and the LM8UU bearings will get damaged and full of sludge. Use a really light bearing lubricant like you would use for router bearings.

Oh, didn't know that. Thanks

I use sprinter and am trying to put new firmware on my sanguinololu, but I have a few problems with it. Hope I can get it working fast, until that I can't change the configuration...
