Temp drop on hot end and hot bed

I was wondering what would cause a hot end and hot bed not to maintain temperature while printing. Low wattage? I have a light 12v(car) running, hot end,hot bed, and fan. 400w atx psu

Connect a volt meter to your power supply on the 12volt rail. Run a print and see if the voltage drops while printing.my guess is you power supply is dropping out. Does the hotend stay at temp with the heatbed off?

Ordered a 12v Dc 30a 360w Regulated Switching Power Supply.

The wattage of the ATX power supply is not what matters. You have to look at the rating of the +12V output. You need at least 18 A.

25A

That should be plenty. Did you put a load on the +5V rail? Most ATX supply seem to need a load there or they won't put full voltage on the 12V rail. I don't know why this is so. I have a wirewound resistor 10 ohm resistor on mine that I got from Radioshack.

No I did not I purchased a 12v car light to run it on 5v but ended up just hooking it on 12v rail because on 5v it was dim(light)lol.

Try connecting the light on the 5V rail again and see if that helps.

I read some where that I could use the light to put a load on it but like I said I have it hooked up to 12v instead. I ll try what you said because i really dont want to move my light or replace it.
