Prusa i3, Makerfarm or Createc3d?

Hello RepRappers and other 3dprinter folks!
I am in need of some help, I am planning to buy and build my first 3D printer and I have decided to go for the Reprap Prusa i3.
I have also decided to buy a full kit with every part I need to make it a litle bit easier when it's my first printer.(often the kits exclude glass and power supply)
The two kits I am thinking about is
Makerfarm
Prusa 6" i3 Kit
Pros
  • Well knowned distributor
  • High quality parts (for sure)
  • Good support
  • Good and clear buld instructions
Cons
  • Expensive shipping (to Sweden)
  • I will have to pay duties and VAT when importing

Createc3D
Prusa i3 kit full
Pros
  • Cheap shipping inside Europe
  • No duty or VAT inside europe
Cons
  • No reviews of the store/product
  • No build instructions
  • I don't speak spanish...(Thank god for google translate)

So the difference in price would be around 800 USD for Makerfarm and around 650 USD from Createc3D.
What do you think I should choose?
Thank you for your help!

Have you checked out eMakershop?
Greg Colbourn is selling a complete set for £325.00 (£30 extra for the aluminium version) with £30 shipping and includes everything (inc psu and glass).
Works out about €430/$590.
There are also a few other kits on there from other sellers too.

I'm waiting on an invoice hardware and upgrade kit from him as I type, I've not heard anything bad about him and he has been operating for as long as I can remember.

Thanks, that site and the products looks good and cheap too! Do you know what they/he mean by "subsequent items"? Does he split the delivery in two and send them separate?
So the only thing you can't order from him is filament but on the other hand there's plenty of shops on the web where you could get that, any tips? 'Cause I've heard that the quality of the PLA/ABS can differ a lot, right?
thanks!

I love the site its just for RepRap'ers and kit sellers to sell there items without incurring fees from eBay.
Subsequent items in the delivery box means cost for delivery of additional items.
For example if you wanted to buy 2 kits the P&P on the first item is £30, but for the second kit he combines the shipping so it only costs £20 for the second . Instead of £60 for P&P its £50.
Without there is a reason no-one would ever split delivery as it would cost more.

tbh I've been out of the printing game for a while now and I'm just getting back into it so I'm re-learning which are the good suppliers. From memory faberdashery was the best PLA I ever bought (expensive, but amazing quality and varieties).
The wiki has a page on suppliers and used to have a good review page, but I can't find it.
Best advice I can give is find a suppler then search there name on these forums and google, then if your still unsure ask in the irc. Generally the bad ones get flagged up almost straight away.

Great!
Thanks for the info, cant wait to order the 3d printer and get going!
I will do some research on the filament area.
It feels like you got the hang of this 3D printer thing so just one last question.
I read somewhere that I really should have a fan blowing at the filament (and extruder?) if I would use PLA but with ABS there is no need for any extra fans. Is this correct?
thanks!

Honestly then I was doing my printing was in 2011 and all in PLA, the fan on/near extruder was a prototype addon.
I've got a few small fans lying around so I'll add one on once I get printing purely because it seems to be the norm, but I've yet to read up on the best practices for fans.
I'd wait for someone else to answer though as they will know more then me.

You want a fan if you're printing with PLA. the more popular hot-ends like the E3D come with frans. It's strongly suggested to run a fan on a J-Head printing with PLA. I believe Magma hot-ends can't print in PLA period.

I had bad experience on Createc3D in particular with the steel version.
The frame parts are not fitting very well due the paint over the holes: you have to remove the paint to install most of the screws.
The printers are coming just with a Spanish manual that is not including at all the steel version and is not very complete: they told me to make
reference to the P3 Steel RepRap page but some of the parts are different and you end up with something that you do not know how to install.
They sent me a faulty E3D extruder that I had to replace with a J-HEAD to be able to print something.
They are normally answering to your questions by email but their support is not very helpful for example they sent me the preconfifugre merlin
firmware for their printer that had some wrong paramentes (e steps where wrong).

Do not recommend them.

Best
Piff
