Reprap Production

Hello all.

I am new to the forums but have been following the reprap movement for a while now.
I had a thought on producing reprap parts faster.

First some background.
I became interested in this project and cnc based machines as a work thing.
I have spent years working with and fixing embroidery machines. Turns out they are just two axis bots with a sewing machine to deposit thread.

They have twelve sewing machines ganged up together sewing at the same time but just the one pantograph moving around. If you were to gang up multiple extruder heads on the one machine it might allow one to produce parts in multiples. One would be sacrificing the production envelope in trade for time but shutting off the extra heads would nullify this. Checking out Tajima embroidery machines on youtube would demonstrate what I mean.

I have no idea if this would work in this application but would appreciate feedback in that this year I am buying myself the electronics for a reprap for the holidays. Merry christmas to me.

Cheers

Joe

Let me congradulate you Joe on starting to build yourself a reprap...hopefully Mendel.

I don't think your idea is bad...multiple machines/heads printing the same part at the same time can only multiply it's output.....simple.

Easier than building multiple machines...just extruding head and larger footprint.

It's been suggested before, but no-one's followed through yet. Good luck!
