A Plastic Solder Pen for Sculpting?

And no, I am NOT talking about the 3Doodler haha.

I remember finding online a while ago a solder-like tool for specifically melting plastic.

I was wondering if anyone knows what I am talking about? I cannot for the life of me find it anymore.

I want to be able to add little touches to my models, like little streaks for fur on animal prints and things like that.

Does anyone know of any good tools for something like that? I figure with a PLA plastic the fumes would not be dangerous, and with a small fan I could get rid of the exhaust anyway (the tool I am talking about actually had a built in fan I believe).

Anyone know of this tool or any others like it?

Thanks smiling smiley

Jeff

wood burner? [www.staples.com]

Or couldn't you just use a regular soldering iron? Maybe with a temperature control.

I've seen a Max Wax pen suggested elsewhere

If you do go for a soldering iron, make sure it can go down to at least 200 Celsius. I used the soldering irons at work successfully at that temperature for PLA. If the soldering iron is too hot then you risk burning/discolouring the plastic.
