POLL: Which nozzle size?

POLL: Which nozzle size?

Dear Reprap users.

I'm curious about the nozzle size people use / choose. And what filament size they use.
I see the nozzle size going down over time as printers get more accurate ( print resolution). But is smaller better, or can you still achieve nice prints with large nozzle sizes?
Because the nozzle size defines filament pressure. A larger nozzle size is an easier print. (?)

As this forum does not support polling. I'm asking you all.

Please be so kind to give me your choice of nozzle.

Starting here myself:

J-Head 0.35mm with 1.75mm filament

.35mm nozzle, 3mm ABS

J-head 0.5mm, 3mm filament (pla)
Tempted to get a 0.35mm nozzle.

J-head 0.3 nozzle, 1.75mm PLA

E3D hot end, 0.4mm tip and 3mm ABS

.35 and .5 nozzle, 3mm filament, both ABS and PLA

Why don't we make it into a 'real' poll which calculates most common used and other stats?

This is kind of pointless.

Anyway.

Merlin
1.75
0.5
PLA

I've used .2, .25, .35, .4, .5, .8, and 1mm nozzles; PLA, ABS, and T-Glase 1.75 and 3mm filament. Taulman Bridge and a flexible PLA are pending.

Layer heights range from .05 to .8mm. The .4mm nozzle seems the best (for my purposes) compromise for speed and detail.

.4 with 1.75 seems to offer good range of usage

Thank you all for you're help. I hope some more people will be so kind to provide there poison of choice.

Yeah Ohmarinus you're quit right. But.....reprap.org doesn't have a polling method build in.
Never the less you're right.

The thing I notice with the 0.35mm is the pressure/force needed to get the filament true is "high" . Most of the times that is working out with a direct drive bowden extruder, but for no reason I will get complete f*#&*k up's.

So I was wondering of people choose a larger nozzle size over more print detail.

0.3 and 0.5 reprapro nozzles with 1.75mm filament. E3D 0.4mm with 1.75mm. Budaschnozzle 0.4mm with 1.75mm. J-head with 3.0mm (all PLA). Best: E3D 0.4 / 1.75. Worst: Budaschnozzle 0.4 / 1.75

Not actually printing yet, but I have a 0.4mm 1.75 AluhotendV5B

0.4 and 0.35 mm with 1.75mm ABS. Haven't had a need to go to finer apertures, but considering 0.5 up to 0.6 in some cases to up print speed

Hey, I would use something like this:

Only a better one, but I couldn't find it in 10 seconds winking smiley

There should be some future way of making polls withing this forum maybe.. Idea to ask the admins?

0.4 and/or .08 1.75 filament. depends on how big object is and how much detail needed. also use 1mm sometimes and would like to 0.25 for some tiny prints.

How about surveymonkey.com? For me it's 3mm PLA, 0.5mm J-Head.
