I have used my Mendel90 printer with .4mm and .6mm nozzles and there is a lot of difference in the print time and quality.
I thought some time ago that it could work to have 2 extruders which instead of having different colours as is usual had different nozzle size so that the main body could be printed at low resolution and the outside with a fine nozzle.
I didn't follow up my thoughts in the area being too busy with other things but a friend recently referred me to a commerial printer using that idea. [
