Filament salvage

I received some filament that is out of spec and causes jams measuring up to 3.2mm. It occurred to me that this is a problem for others aswell as those who make filament inexpensively.
I was wondering if anyone had created or thought up a simple design for a machine through which filament could be passed reducing the diameter to under 3mm.

I saw one post a few years ago about making a steel sheet with a 2.9mm hole in it that a person pulled the filament through and the holes sharp edge scrapped the extra material away.

You could use what's called a wire draw plate, used by jewellers to draw down metal wires by fractions to get to a desired diameter. You can pick them up from ebay in appropriate sizes for very little money.
