Would like to modify a printer and substitute a NEMA 23 motor for one NEMA 17 motor to drive one axis.

Any issues doing this?

Thanks

I haven't tried that but it depends on your printer and the torque you need to pull and push the extruder.

Anyway if you are very interested on doing that and the nema17 hasn't enough torque you could always use reductive gears to gain force and lose velocity.

If someone has tried that they will tell you, but you should tell the printer you are trying to modify or some information about it

Just go ahead, but be sure your driver can support the current your motor is made for.
