Upgrade from the Igus plastic bearings which have a higher friction coefficient than the 2 V-slot extrusions and wheels in photo 2. Next will be a MIC 6 1/4" plate with 200cm sq heating plate from Panucatt. By my calculations it should reduce overall weight of the carriage.

No, it's a general forum that started for RepRap printers that has morphed into far more than just 3d printing.

I like it.
That's a Mendel Max 2 frame but you're creating your own linear motion arrangement.
Which, coincidentally, is exactly what I have in mind doing using a MM2 structure as a basis.

What are you doing with your z axis? Are you going non standard?
