Is it just me, or are atmega168 chips in tqfp form just out of stock everywhere online?

not quite everyone

newark atmega168 tqfp

off shore?

5 left

But yes, it does look like there are very few out there right now. Not sure if this is a typical part to not stock, like the 40pin DIPs.

Thanks, I guess I forgot about the newark one because of the $20 handling fee. I'll have to check out those other two.

I think the atmega328P is compatible, so keep an eye out for those too

Newark now has listing at 0
tayda actuall have the atmega8 which will NOT work (I tried, lol)
alldav is also out of stock.

I found a place that does have a buch, but a $50 handling fee.
I spoke to someone at mouser and they say they'll have some in a month or 2

pain in the booty.
If the 328 will work, I'll try getting one of those.

They have 7 at Sparkfun

I have a tube of 10 of them. Well one is in use, but the other nine I think are still in the tube. Most of my designs use the Mega88 which I have a lot of too.

If one is surrounded by rare and unusual things, does that mean that they are still rare and unusual?

All means bad news for pricing....

Supply versus demand and all that.

Sounds like arduino has outrun atmega's production capacity. That's bad. sad smiley

They just released a new series of chips in the xmega line, production capacity might have gone to the new chips.

Wonder if the 1280's are suffering similar supply issues. If So the Arduino Mega is in trouble.
