Questions regarding Upgrading to DRV8825 stepper drivers.

I am using standard A4988 drivers and want to upgrade to DRV8825 drivers for the upgraded performance.

DRV8825 drivers will allow for a quieter print and better overall performance .

A4988 drivers are the drivers i use currently and provide 1/16 stepping with the 4x bridging pins underneath.

and DRV8825 provide 1/32 stepping. but with the same amount of bridging pins underneath?

do I need to update firmware (using marlin)? and do I need to change anything else?

Does anybody have any advice? has anybody seen the advertised 'performance?'

With the same three installed jumpers, it'll be 1/32. You will need to update the firmware by doubling the steps per millimeter on each axis that has been switched to the 8825. Don't forget to adjust the stepper current.

I got some, but I haven't tried them, yet.

They work great ofr me. They have twice the microstepping, as Stephenrc mentioned. Other than that, the only configuration would be adjusting the driver's current, like with the A4988. They work great -- mine are around as hot as a hot tub after an hour-long print with no cooling.
