Is reprap opposed to linuxcnc adoption as machine controller?

I am wondering if maybe there is some guide to what are reasonable developments when trying to evolve the reprap system.

I do not want to subvert the reprap project goals by trying to implement things that may damage the rules and constitution that govern the reprap project.

I have found there seem to be many negative comments when I have made forum posts regarding linuxcnc, is this just individual members opinions or is there some higher guidance that linuxcnc should be avoided with reprap machines?

I am partially asking this because I also recently found that my recent post about funding some new linuxcnc development what removed by the site admin.

I do not seem to have received an explanation for the movement of the post and can see no reason or need, as it seems extraordinary administrative behaviour that has never been done prior to my post.

Anyone have any ideas or comments?

There is no higher ruling here other than some moderate frowning on commercial activities. Was it a wiki page or a forum posting removed? Why do you post in the general section if you want to talk about firmware (firmware section) and/or about something like a Bounty (has a section, too)? These questions come to mind.

Regarding LinuxCNC: it's pretty complex and doesn't run on ATmegas. Not sure about low-end ARMs, like Cortex-M0, -M3 and -M4. I guess that's why it's used rarely. Still some users exist. I met one in Vienna, his printer worked, still he wanted to rewrite many things from the ground up. Whatever that means.

Your post was not removed, but moved to "Crowdfunding Projects Announcements" forum section where it should belong in the first place.

LinuxCNC and Reprap are different branches of a common ancestor, Computer Numerically Controlling a device. Just as you wouldn't talk about repairing a lawnmower engine in a car engine repair form, even though both are internal combustion engines, IMHO it doesn't make sense to talk about LinuxCNC in terms of a Reprap 3D printer. They are just....different. There are subforums that cater specifically to similar activites and adaptation of CNC mills, lathes, etc along with their appropriate electronics for printing activities, but discussing/advocating/whatever LinuxCNC for as a base for Reprap in general I don't think fits.

the post in question was advertising for a crowd funding campaign, it was simply moved to to the relevant spot on the forum
