[HELP] [3Drag] only y axis is able to move
November 04, 2014 02:30PM
Hi, i am a new repraper. I recently assembled a 3drag printer and here i encountered a problem with controlling. On the repetier interface, i tried to manually control the device. It turns out that only the y axis home button is functional. Other motors are not locked. Extruder temperature is shown as 738.8 degree but not hot at all. Bed temperature is normal. I switched the connector of y axis to the other motors on the chip and relative motor is able to go home. So i guess most probably is the controlling problem. Does anyone know how should i solve the problem? Appreciate it a lot.

Further more i noticed that, once the y home button is pressed, the green LED on the chip is active and Y controller chip has a red button on. However if other instructions are given, instead of green but the red LED is on and the respected controller has no action.

Hi, I'm having difficulty understanding your problem.

The temperature being 738.8 degrees is absolutely wrong. Did you select the correct thermistor in your firmware settings?

I would suggest contacting the reseller of the printer first. Maybe they can help you. They might be able to tell you what thermistor the printer is using.

The other axis not moving might be a problem of the endstops not being connected correctly? It's a bit cryptic and I don't exactly understand what you mean with 'the green LED on the chip is active' etcetera. There are no chips with LED's on them afaik on a Ramps. Does the controller have buttons that light up when pressed/used?

Appreciate a lot for your answering.

As shown in the picture, there is a red light on the circuit. Once the motor moves, the light will be on. I have already contacted the dealer but they have not reply yet.
As for the thermistor, it is the one provided by the dealer.

Okay, I suggest you wait for them to answer, I don't immediately recognize the board type you have so I can't help you. On the site it says it's a Sanguinololu 1.3a but it doesn't look like the Sanguinololu 1.3a I have?..

One more piece of advice, please try to put all your replies in one post, that makes it easier for others to read. If you want to add information to a post on a later time, you can edit your message and add information smiling smiley (instead of posting three replies).

The soldering on the pololo pins is dreadful, this is clear from the photo.

It looks like a wiring problem. Did you receive any response from them yet?

From what I understand from your description, it seems like there might be a wiring problem.
It happens to me too, they hook up to the wrong axis.

Wait and see what they have to say
