Reading a DXF lasercut file
May 01, 2010 11:28AM
I don't own a lasercutter, and honestly I am not all that good with DXF files, honestly they confuse the heck out of me.

Why is it when I open a dxf file in Heekscad or Inkscape, I usually see a lot of solid and dashed lines, whats the significance of the dashed and dotted lines?

Also sometimes (like with the Makerbot), the dxf files have multi colored lines, what are those for?

Also many times there are random lines floating outside the part area, what are they for?
