Why there is no commercially available filament coloring extruder?

Hi everybody,

It seems there are people who managed to color prints by coloring filament with sharpie markers.

There are even some patents which are approved this year on February for such an apparatus.

There are youtube videos, people showing successful colored prints.

Why there is no automated apparatus for coloring filaments with markers?

We would place several markers on the apparatus which is placed on top of extruder. Then it would push/pull them against filament automatically according to required color.

I'm planning to start building one for myself. Do you know of any such apparatus I can already buy?

Thanks,

I think you may have partially answered the question yourself when you mentioned the patents granted ... it's a small market so maybe only the patent holders are likely to find it commercially viable to make one.

I am not sure I understand, but sharpie markers..these will probably fade off by time. Better have the pellets to be dyed than colored!?
