Welding machine on RepRap?

Welding machine on RepRap?

I have been in contact with a group who would like to open up a new machine design to the community. However it isn't a 3D printer, it's a 2D continuous feed welder with a frame and axis similar to that of the Mendel.

Would something like this fit in well here (RepRap Wiki/Forums), or is there another site that it would be better suited for?

That's exciting! I'd personally love to see it in the wiki. My impression of official policy is "anything but a handgun."

I'd say the wiki and forum would be perfect. Do they want a new subforum?

Remember, you're all RepRap developers (once you've joined the super-secret developer mailing list), and the wiki, RepRap.org, [reprap.org] is for everyone and everything! grinning smiley

I don't think they care where, just looking for a home. I'll start up something for them in the next few days on the wiki.

What kind of subform, like "Machine Variations / Mylar Welding"?

How about non-plastic materials or metal as a working medium? Or pedal to the metal?

Whatever makes sense to them, really.
