Noob in need of guidance please

I am new here tonight and I hope I am posting correctly. I apologize if I am making any noobie mistake. I plan on being here longterm and I will "learn the ropes" if I am making any mistakes with this post. I have searched Google for weeks, literally, trying to fix my problem with no success.

I bought a RepRap Prusa I3 kit from a Chinese supplier. The ONLY instruction on assembly was a grainy video with no sound. Nontheless, over a saturday evening I was able to complete assembly several weeks ago and everything appears in good working condition. The hot end heats up and extrudes properly (a HUGE surprise to me after wrestling with the assembly of that piece), the heated bed also heats up properly and both are shown on the LCD and controlled well via the software, Repetier Host. The X,Y, and Z axis move well via manual software control with Pronterface as well.

The problem I am having is that when I start a print the X and Z axis shoot off past their limits and I have to cut power. The X stepper grinds away stuck at the left side limit past the end stop and the nozzle of the extruder is pushed down into the (luckily) spring supported aluminum bed past the z stop. The end stops work fine when I move the steppers manually but when I try to print I get this everytime. I am getting SO frustrated not being able to fix this and finding no information online.

PLEASE someone help me fix this issue. I am SO close to actually printing but for this problem. I think.

Thank you for allowing me to post my issue. My printer is the exact one in this link below.

Make sure that the gcode in the slicer is configured correctly. My first print did the same thing, the printer didnt have endstops, so it just tried to kill itself when the gcode told it to "calibrate home" so i adjusted the gcode so it would reset each axis to 0. My guess is that because you have working endstops, that the start gcode configuration isnt doing what it should.

I will try that later this week when I get a chance to get back at it. Too many OT nights lately. I really hope that is the fix to my problem. Thank you, iamdarkyoshi! I will let you know how I make out. I appreciate the help!

Does the machine home itself properly when you send it a G28 command? If no, then you have a problem with the endstops.

I will give that command a try this weekend when I get a chance to get back to it. That sounds like another good tip to help me troubleshoot. I will let you know what my results are. Thank you very much for your help!
