Questions regarding the hot end by reifsnyderb

Hello All

I have found this thread by reifsnyderb where he sells various parts for the hot end of the extruder.

A few questions...

Regarding the PTFE/PEEK hybrid thermal barrier. Is this a proven design and now stable? I see nophead did a review on it here but does not have a definitive answer to this question.

Also, why would one choose a separate hex nut nozzle attached to the heater barrel rather than the nozzle and barrel in one?

Finally, what are the advantages/disadvantages in using the standard hex nozzle vs the bighead nozzle?

(gosh - how I would love to have a kitted out workshop rather than doing these things in a spare room... but at least I have a spare room and one has to start somewhere smiling smiley )

Thanks

It makes it easier to clean the barrel as you just have to take off the nut. Also you can change nozzle size, if you so please, without taking apart the entire assembly.

As far as I understand it, it takes longer to heat up, but the larger mass keeps the temperature more stable.
