What model is the current champ for dual extrusion?

I currently have an Ultimaker V1 but was thinking about building a second printer.

What does the community think is the best quality dual extruder (or triple) RepRap. I don't care about speed, but being able to do 0.1 or lower with minimal (or no) oozing is my priority. Is there a particular hot end that would be best for this?

I already have a bunch of 3mm filament, so if I can use that it would be a big plus. Are there any advantages to 1.75MM filament?

A large build area (200mm+) would also be nice.

Your thoughts?

Thanks!

I haven't added any more than the one extruder to mine yet. But the one I've found most compelling is the Dual X-Carriage Bukobot [www.thingiverse.com]. It implements a metal tab the nozzle rests on while waiting to minimize the problem of ooze bane. It can also wipe any ooze off.

A multi extruder system can be put onto any model of printer. You don't have to limit your search to printers with large print areas. In most cases, you'll only have to replace the x-carriage and electronics board. Even some of the boards wouldn't have to be replaced.

May not be the highest resolution I have ever seen, but that is a VERY nice print and a beautifully simple solution! smiling smiley

I will definitely look into that one!

I was looking at maybe a completely customer CoreXY as I think that would be fairly easy to built but..
