List of Small 3D Printers
April 06, 2015 12:15AM
Hey guys,

I am looking for a nice small 3D printer as a fun project and want to get an overview. If you know a tiny 3D printer just post it here pls... smiling smiley

Small printers:

  • Huxley
  • Tantillus
  • 3DR Delta (a bigger smaller one winking smiley)
  • Downsized Kossel
  • Downsized Smartrap
  • Tiney Boy (the smallest FDM so far, seems not to be available atm)
  • Skeleton 3D
  • Ibox nano (not available yet, it is not an FDM printer)

Thank you!

Well you mentioned the Huxley, and I don't think the Mini Kossel footprint is any bigger - it's probably smaller if you allow space for the moving bed of the Huxley. If the height is too much for you, you could shorten it by 140mm or so.

Thats a good idea! I might look into that!

The Smartrap. You can downsize that little beast to a micro printer if you want.

What size are you looking to build?

The Funbot is a variant of the Smartrap, I was wanting a small printer to have in my work office to print PLA only. This seemed to fit. You can adjust it to what size you need. Mine sets on a 293mmx303mm aluminum plate for size reference.

Here's a pic of my funbot. Mine differed from Cliff's in that I used the U.S. 3/8" rods rather than 10mm, aluminum tubes for the X and Y axis, and I also used bronze bushings and a bowden extruder setup instead of direct drive. I purchased the rods, tubes, and bushings at servocity.com

The Skeleton 3D looks good! smiling smiley

@madmike: I am looking for a small printer, very small, just like the Huxley or smaller.

@Kurza: Printrbot is a little too big... Ibox nano will be available later, but it's a pretty nice one.

@Maboo: I am definitely in love with those small printers!!!

The TinyBoy is cute, though I think I would prefer an acrylic Tantillus. The TinyBoy is just a little too small I think.

I am also at work and almost scared myself doing a quick search for TinyBoy. Thankfully Google found the website for the 3D printer.

Yeah I tend atm to the Tantillus or Skeleton 3D. Where did you find the website, cause it is down... Where did you buy the Acrylic parts?

Thank you.

Does an Ordbot Quantum qualify as tiny? Pretty small, esp. in terms of build area.

Did anybody already receive their iBoxNano at this point? I am considering to get one but it seems very unclear how long this is going to take me.

If I urgently need a small 3D printer (dreamworld SLA but otherwise FDM could work as well) which one would you recommend?

Thanks!

Perhas you should add the Fischer Delta, [reprappro.com], to the list? I saw a couple at a show recently, and they were small.

How come we didn't get Tiko on the list - did it have to be reprap/kit? I see Tiko got funded to $3M for the $100K requested - they've got to be happy/terrified.

Get rid of the iBox Nano. Company has failed to fulfill their Kickstarter rewards and has stopped reply to inquiries. Assumption is the project is dead and the money gone.
