Hi Guys
I need to ask a stupid question, see attached photo, what are these things and what are they used for ?

My guess would be loads on the +5V power rail, so that the ATX power supply regulates +12V properly. Check out the excellent ATX power supply article in the Wiki for an explanation of why the +5V rail needs to be loaded on some ATX power supplies.....

Yes, that's what they are used for - to insure that +12V is +12V.

These are resistors and they are used as base or balancing loads for respectively the +5V line (red and black leads) and the +3.3V line (orange and black leads) from the ATX power supply.

Or you can just use a proper 12 bench supply and not have to worry about such things...
