Connecting model parts automatically

Hi,

I'm printing extruded text pretty simple. But when I finish the print I have individual letters. I started manually putting connecting lines between the letter so I can pull of the whole word from the print bed, but that is a lot of work and not scalable if I have lots of different words. I was wondering if there is a automatic way to do that. Maybe a openscad script or a vector program that could do that?

Do you use openSCAD to generate the text?
You could write a generic grid-file on the x/y surface and make "union()" with your letters.

Then you start printing the bottom layers in transparent filament and later change to the desired color.

I tried to make a standard piece that fits most words, but not all letter have a straight line to connect to in the same spot so you end up having to modify the standard piece.

Print them on a raft?
