Printer not connecting
August 15, 2015 12:44AM
i reciently purchased a HE3D i3 8'' reprap. The printer it self turns on loads the Marlin Firmware will print from the SD card but when I load the Repetier software and hit connect i get this in the log
21:33:54.245 : N1 M110 *2
21:33:54.245 : N2 M115 *4
21:33:54.245 : N3 M105 *4
21:33:54.245 : N4 M114 *3
21:33:54.245 : }M?>?8?}E?6?V|?}M?6Z"?Zt?
21:33:54.245 : }M?
21:33:54.276 : N5 M111 S6 *66
21:33:54.276 : N6 T0 *28
21:33:54.276 : N7 M20 *54
21:33:54.276 : N8 M80 *51
21:33:54.276 : x?}E?6?2?%??*?J?
21:33:54.354 : N9 M105 *14
21:33:57.431 : N10 M105 *54
21:34:37.538 : Communication timeout - reset send buffer block
21:34:37.538 : N11 M105 *55
21:34:40.382 : N12 M105 *52
21:34:43.443 : N13 M105 *53

as you can see there is a bunch of garble and then it spits out a "Communication timeout - reset send buffer block" error and everything ends up "Waiting" on commands and wont respond to any action. not sure what is going on and how to fix it so i can calibrate the travel on the motors. not sure what other info you may need to help. thanksin advance.

Have you got the baud rate set correctly in Repetier?

looks like bad usb cable... try a shorter one that is shelided.

the Baud rate seems to be what was causing the issue. the "limited" instructions that i received with my printer had me change the Baud rate to 115200 in the program but didn't say anything about it in Marlin. however now that i can connect, it seems that the motors wont let the extruder go past about the midway point. any links you could point me to fix this issue?

Can you explain that a bit better?

when i connect the repetier to the printer and try and manually move the X & Y to only goes so far, if i hit the home button, i have to pull the power because they will destroy the step sensors. almost like it thinks the heat table is not where it actually is, if that makes sense.

"Step sensors"? Do you mean end-stops?
If so, are you saying that when you hit the home button, the motors will drive into the end-stops and keep going - hence you needing to remove the power? And its happening on both the X and Y axes?

Have you got the wires connected to the C and NC terminals on the three end-stops?

"communication time out reset send buffer block" was the error I was getting.

Connected printer to other computer and everything worked fine.

Device driver said everything was fine there as well but the error started after installing some other COM port drivers for arduino.

I uninstalled devices and drivers for the printer and downloaded new driver from:

after this I restarted problematic computer and now it communicates fine the printer.

Hopefully this is helpful to anyone else coming across this issue

Drivers, Com Ports, USB Ports, & keeping track of things, can be a PIA, especially when leaving things for a while, or changing things.
I think I need a better system, (or better understanding) You would think that if you had same firmware on 100x printers, you would only need to connect one and the others would be the same BUT NO, I got a new KeyStudio Ramps, tried uploading my setup to it wasnt going on, then I remembered about the putting drivers on in system & com port...a little confused as I thought driver was already on the PC as I have used it for a number of machines, but no apparently not, new board new driver, dont know why(probably some unique ID) all the info on driver page I have a few Printer Names/Definitions and they are getting confusing, not connecting where previously they have obviously need to label machines properly.

Anyway Tried getting the Motors Moving today(the new Bed), from the Keystudio Ramps, when plugged into Matter Control I think I just chose a printer profile I had there but no movement, So I plugged the motor into another Ramps setup(my second built machine previously working ie profile connecting correctly) and Nothing, wouldnt connect, and manual move wasnt moving motor...

So I had a fiddle, noticed Y was flipped compared to others so matched them all, still have the connection issue(com7 only one showing, I thought these things where always on com3), but the motor moves manually, Tried setting up new Printer Profile(a few times), it goes through the procedure, wants a driver, seems to pull driver from Matter Control (so maybe its pulling wrong one) Even though this Printer was all configured months ago... still have to try all the USB ports to see if it makes any difference.

Wondering if there's more than one type of driver now on the PC, maybe I should upgrade all to the one linked above?
