Which filament is best for being painted/ airbrushed afterwards?

I'm thinking of some metallic colors for medieval weapon lookalikes.

Hi,

I've painted PLA easily.
ABS needs a primer coating.
Nylon can be dyed.

PLA was my first thought, because it is organic.
