Watertight bottle cap

Hi,

Im trying to design a real bottle cap for coke bottles. I identified the type (gpi 28-400) and im printing in flexfilement (not filaflex but a bit harder).

I realized that the threads dont seal the bottle but that there is a little lip on the ceiling of the cap that sits itself inside of the opening of the bottle. my first trials however are only slightly more watertight than just a simple pla thread without seal.

has anyone ever succeeded in printing a bottlecap that seals correctly?

cheers

I designed a cap for silicone kit syringe style containers which are normally one time use. I used a piece of plastic kitchen wrap that seals it nice and tight. Not exactly what you asked but it does work. I've printed it with pla and abs.

With flex filament you need to control blobbing and stringing. Print mo faster than 30mm/s. The lip in the original bottles work because they are an exact fit all the way around the bottle top. You could make the cap deeper and stop the thread from going to the top of the cap. This way you may be able to screw in on tighter.

Yeah I thought about o-rings as well but i might have found a better way there is actually a double lip inside the caps. so I designed a V-shaped lip as well, that can wrap itself around the bottle opening from the in and outside.
