Recording your builds for youtube?

Hi everyone. One of my goals in the coming months is to start recording the crazy projects I am working on. Like building me oversized 3d printer. I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this. I don't want to be tied to a computer and don't want crud video quality. I was thinking a gopro, but those cost an insane amount. What do you all use?

I'm planning to do the same thing, at the moment I've got a Raspberry Pi, with a wi-fi dongle and a logitech 720p webcam, and using motion. Motion does motion detection using the webcam, and if it sees movement, it will capture images on a configurable speed (like 4 per second, or one every 6 seconds, whatever) and will also turn those frames into a timelapse movie.
